Keep the game fun and interesting. Ask for suggestions from the employees for
ideas on how to make it more fun for them.
Make everyone feel like a winner. There will be some people that will win more
often than others. The people who win more will love it; the people who don’t
will feel left out. Perhaps you could have a special drawing once per month
for employees with improved attendance records or perfect attendance records
for 30 days, making it a stipulation that they may not have won the Bingo jackpot
in the previous few months to be eligible. Such a thing will keep people interested
because they have more than just one chance to win.
Also, give something back to everyone. See how much money you save, and then
at the end of the year, use a portion (5 or 10 percent) of the saved money to
give your employees a little something extra. Perhaps each person receives a
gift certificate for a nicer than average restaurant, or a gift certificate
for $50 off a night at a local hotel or a free game of golf. Don’t give
everyone the same items either; make it personal. Even a company Christmas Party
somewhere other than the office would help. Your company will come out on top
with the employees if they feel you value them. They will be more loyal to your
company and may even bring you more business through the best advertising tool
known, word of mouth.
Some places have decided to give time off depending on the level of the
jackpot. Say the jackpot is $75. The BINGO for SAFETY winner may choose
the money or a half-day off from work. Perhaps $100 or $150 is a whole
day off. It’s up to you to decide. This is also a good way to reduce
false Workman’s Comp claims, as many people just want a day off
to play golf. By giving it to them they no longer have to lie for it.
